The Bluestem Hotel was a full design renovation that included an addition to the structure* that originally was a exterior-corridor Travelodge. Greenwood & Black also transformed the existing guest rooms, added some guest rooms, and completely redesigned the lobby and exterior courtyard. After such a transformation, re-branding became a necessary part of the project scope. As Torrance’s first truly boutique hotel, a coastal sanctuary in the South Bay, the name stems from the blue grass found at Madrona Marsh. Bluestem Hotel reopened to the public in early 2019.
